Volume X: José Carlos Mariátegui: Stages of His Life
The tenth volume of Mariátegui’s complete works is a biography of the man written by the prolific Peruvian writer María Wiesse and released in 1945. In it, the author offers us invaluable sketches of the trajectory of Mariátegui’s life, some of the little biographical information available to us in any language. Considering the book’s inclusion by Mariátegui’s children in the Complete Works, we can count on it as a reliable account of Mariátegui’s brief, painful, but intellectually rich life.
This volume also contains six essays by various authors about Mariátegui’s influence on thought and society throughout Latin America, from Cuba in the Caribbean all the way to Uruguay in the Southern Cone.
