Mariátegui’s collected works have so far been compiled in two ways: chronologically, and by theme. The Obras Completas used here, which have been compiled and edited by Mariátegui’s own children, are organized in the latter way. Each volume, therefore, collects Mariátegui’s writings around a certain topic, which in turn helps us sketch a better picture of Mariátegui’s broader outlook and ideology than would be possible with a chronological method.
